Overseas Pakistanis Are Permitted To Import Vehicles Under The New Policy

Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah announced that overseas Pakistanis can import vehicles under the personal baggage scheme, transfer of residence, and gift scheme, as long as they haven’t imported, gifted, or received a vehicle in the past two years, according to the Import Policy Order (IPO) 2022.

FTO Advisor Dr. Waqar Ch. Arain shared this update with the business community during an awareness session on Sunday. He also noted that the FTO has directed the Director of the Directorate of Reforms & Automation in Karachi to create and implement an electronic Customs Release Form (e-CRF) issued by the Collectorate of Customs, Appraisement (West) Karachi.

This measure will help the assessing officer verify that no goods declaration (GD) is submitted using a new passport by an importer who has already imported a vehicle on their old passport under the Baggage, Transfer of Residence, and Gift Scheme in the last two years.
