Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, has undertaken a high-level visit to Romania aimed at strengthening bilateral defence and strategic cooperation.

During his visit, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu held meetings with Mr. Eduard Bachide, State Secretary of Defence, and General Gheorgiță Vlad, Chief of Defence of Romania. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to deepen military ties and explore new avenues of collaboration between Islamabad and Bucharest.

Air Chief Marshal Sidhu reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to fortify its partnership with Romania, emphasizing that the relationship is founded on mutual respect, shared values, and a joint vision for regional and global stability.

“The Pakistan Air Force remains fully dedicated to expanding operational collaboration, joint training, and technological cooperation to enhance the capabilities of both air forces,” he stated.

Romanian defence officials, in turn, praised the Pakistan Air Force’s combat excellence and operational legacy, expressing strong interest in learning from PAF’s extensive experience in modern air warfare, strategy, and tactical innovation.

General Gheorgiță Vlad lauded PAF’s professionalism and confirmed Romania’s intent to expand cooperation through joint exercises, training programs, and interoperability initiatives — all aimed at developing a sustainable strategic partnership.

Observers have termed the Air Chief’s visit a milestone in Pakistan’s expanding defence outreach in Europe, noting that it marks the beginning of a more structured and long-term military collaboration between the two nations.

The visit also highlights the international recognition of Pakistan’s air power, while underscoring both countries’ resolve to address evolving security challenges through united efforts, knowledge-sharing, and sustained cooperation.
