Pakistan has made significant progress in trade and education cooperation with Tajikistan. The initiatives were driven by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Under the new agreement, Pakistan will export 143,000 tons of halal meat to Tajikistan. The deal is valued at $14.5 million and marks a historic step in bilateral trade. Officials say improved trade facilitation could expand total trade to $300 million, boosting regional economic integration.
In addition to trade, both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for educational exchange. The MoU will allow students and teachers to participate in exchange programs, strengthening ties in education.
Pakistanโs focus on the halal meat sector aligns with recent agreements with Brazil. These agreements aim to expand collaboration in livestock, dairy, and meat industries. Experts say these steps reflect Pakistanโs growing international partnerships in key economic sectors.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif recently approved the Halal Meat Export Policy. He directed authorities to present a comprehensive three-year strategy to boost halal meat exports. The plan aims to increase Pakistanโs market share in Muslim countries and global markets.
During a meeting on meat export policy, the prime minister emphasized a coordinated approach. He instructed federal and provincial authorities to work together to improve livestock production and cold storage facilities. The committee on halal meat exports was tasked with submitting practical proposals for sectoral reforms.
Special measures will also be adopted to ensure halal meat production meets international standards. Authorities are expected to enhance competitiveness with regional producers while maintaining high quality.
Analysts say the focus on halal meat exports could strengthen Pakistanโs position as a leading supplier in international markets. The countryโs strategic partnerships and government support are expected to boost trade and improve infrastructure in the livestock sector.
With these initiatives, Pakistan aims to enhance its halal meat industry, expand educational cooperation, and foster stronger ties with Tajikistan.
