Pakistan generated more than Rs. 1.83 billion from Markhor and Ibex trophy Hunting between 2023 and 2025.
The Ministry of Climate Change shared the figures with the Senate. The data shows that Balochistan generated the highest revenue during the two-year period.
Balochistan earned around Rs. 760 million from the trophy hunting programme. Gilgit-Baltistan recorded the second-highest revenue, generating more than Rs. 620 million.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earned Rs. 447.8 million during the same period. Meanwhile, Sindh generated around Rs. 3.1 million from Ibex hunting.
Balochistan Generates Highest Hunting Revenue
The figures highlight differences in trophy Hunting revenue across Pakistan’s provinces and regions.
Balochistan accounted for the largest share, with revenue reaching approximately Rs. 760 million.
Gilgit-Baltistan also contributed a significant amount to the overall earnings. Its revenue exceeded Rs. 620 million between 2023 and 2025.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa generated nearly Rs. 448 million under the programme. Sindh’s contribution was considerably smaller than the other regions.
The province generated approximately Rs. 3.1 million through Ibex hunting. Combined, these figures pushed total revenue above Rs. 1.83 billion.
Local Communities Receive 80% of Revenue
Under the existing policy, most revenue from trophy hunting goes to local communities.
Communities receive 80% of the money generated through the programme.
The remaining 20% goes to the relevant provincial wildlife departments. The federal government does not receive direct revenue from the programme.
The revenue-sharing arrangement is designed to provide financial benefits to communities in participating areas. Provincial wildlife departments are responsible for distributing the community share among local populations.
No Central Audit Mechanism
The Ministry of Climate Change also provided information about oversight of the revenue distribution process.
According to the ministry, no central mechanism currently audits the distribution of the community share. Instead, provincial wildlife departments manage the allocation of these funds.
This means responsibility for distributing revenue remains with the relevant authorities in each province or region. The ministry’s figures provide an overview of the financial scale of trophy Hunting between 2023 and 2025.
Balochistan remained the largest revenue-generating region, followed by Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The programme generated more than Rs. 1.83 billion overall during the reported period.
