ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has launched a state-of-the-art monitoring system called SHIKRA (Secure Hybrid Intelligence for Knowledge Band Response Analytics). The system will provide real-time tracking of passport applications from submission to delivery.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated SHIKRA at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. He said the system brings Pakistan’s passport services in line with global standards.
The new system allows continuous monitoring of every stage of a passport application. Citizens can now track the status of applications and deliveries across Pakistan and abroad. The Interior Minister highlighted that the system ensures faster, secure, and internationally standardized services.
Minister Naqvi also mentioned that the security features of Pakistani passports meet ICAO standards. Advanced automated German machines have increased the department’s capacity, and human intervention in the passport printing process has been fully eliminated.
During his visit, the minister toured the e-monitoring room, call centre, forensic laboratory, and modern production unit. Officials demonstrated the integrated digital dashboard, which tracks daily operations and evaluates staff performance. SHIKRA also identifies overcrowding at passport offices automatically.
The launch of SHIKRA is expected to enhance the efficiency and performance of the passport department. It provides both citizens and authorities with a transparent system to monitor operations in real time.
Minister Naqvi emphasized that the government’s goal is to offer high-quality, reliable services to citizens. He said the new system reflects Pakistan’s commitment to modernization and global best practices in public service.
