Pakistan Navy Seizes 1,500 kg Hashish Worth $3M in Arabian Sea

KARACHI โ€“ The Pakistan Navy successfully intercepted a major drug shipment during a maritime security operation in the Arabian Sea. The Navyโ€™s ship Yamama seized 1,500 kilograms of hashish valued at around 3 million US dollars.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the operation was part of routine regional maritime security patrolling. It aimed to prevent illegal activities and secure the countryโ€™s maritime boundaries.

Officials said the operation reflects the Pakistan Navyโ€™s proactive role in combating drug smuggling and maintaining law and order at sea. โ€œThis operation demonstrates our commitment to protecting national maritime interests,โ€ ISPR added.

The Navy conducts regular RMSP (Regional Maritime Security Patrol) missions to monitor maritime routes and prevent illicit trafficking. These operations are crucial in safeguarding trade routes and ensuring the safety of the Arabian Sea region.

According to ISPR, the seizure was carefully coordinated with intelligence inputs and highlights the Pakistan Navyโ€™s dedication to combating transnational crime. The Navy also cooperates with regional and international partners to strengthen maritime security and share information on illegal activities.

Authorities emphasized that the successful operation will serve as a deterrent to criminal networks attempting to exploit maritime routes for drug smuggling. The seizure not only prevents illegal substances from entering the country but also supports wider efforts to combat organized crime.

This latest achievement reinforces the Pakistan Navyโ€™s reputation for vigilance, discipline, and operational efficiency. The Navy continues to play a key role in maintaining the safety of Pakistanโ€™s waters while contributing to regional security initiatives.

The operation also underscores the importance of maritime law enforcement and the ongoing need for robust surveillance and patrolling efforts. Officials noted that such missions are part of the Navyโ€™s long-term strategy to combat illegal activities and uphold national security.
