Karachi โ The Pakistan Navy successfully carried out a major rescue operation in the North Arabian Sea. The mission saved 18 crew members from a distressed merchant vessel named MV Gold Autumn.
The incident began after the vessel sent a distress signal. The ship was located about 200 nautical miles south of the Pakistani coastline. The crew included nationals from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
After receiving the alert, maritime authorities acted quickly. The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency activated its Maritime Rescue Coordination Center. It immediately coordinated with the Pakistan Navy to launch a rescue mission.
The naval ship PNS Hunain, which was already on patrol duty, was deployed for the operation. The Pakistan Navy team reached the site and assessed the emergency situation onboard the vessel.
Officials said the ship had suffered a fire incident. The rescue team worked quickly to control the situation. The Pakistan Navy personnel helped extinguish the fire and prevented further damage.
Medical assistance was also provided to the injured and affected crew members. All 18 individuals were safely evacuated from the vessel. The operation was completed with full coordination and professionalism.
After the rescue, the crew members were transported to Karachi. They are currently receiving medical treatment. Authorities said they will later be repatriated to their home countries.
The Pakistan Navy stated that such missions highlight its commitment to maritime safety. Officials added that quick response and readiness are key parts of its operational duty.
