Chairman Prime Ministerโs Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, announced on Friday that the government of Pakistan will provide 700,000 Chromebooks to students across the country.
Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, Rana Mashhood emphasized that empowering young people is a top priority for the government. He highlighted the administrationโs commitment to creating equal opportunities for youth development nationwide.
The chairman noted that overseas Pakistanis are eager to invest in the country. Such investments, he said, will strengthen the economy and generate new employment and skill-building opportunities for young people.
Rana Mashhood revealed that the TIF Foundation Lahore will collaborate with the government to distribute the 0.7 million Chromebooks. This initiative aims to enhance online learning, providing students in schools, colleges, and universities with access to modern digital tools.
The distribution of Chromebooks will be carried out in phases to ensure transparency. The devices will allow students to access online learning platforms, updated academic resources, and educational software that supports research and creative learning.
To guarantee equal access to education, the programme will also include students from Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan. Officials stressed that these areas will benefit from the same opportunities as students in other parts of Pakistan.
The initiative is part of the governmentโs broader efforts to modernize education and equip students with the technology needed for the digital era. By providing Chromebooks, authorities hope to bridge the digital divide and enhance learning outcomes nationwide.
This large-scale programme reflects Pakistanโs commitment to empowering youth, ensuring they have the tools and resources to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
