Islamabad: Pakistan’s information technology (IT) exports recorded a significant increase in October, rising by 17% compared to the same month last year and reaching $1.44 billion, officials confirmed.
The growth reflects strong demand for IT services, software development, and digital solutions from international clients. Analysts attribute the rise to a combination of competitive pricing, skilled workforce, and the global shift toward digital transformation.
Industry leaders highlighted that the surge in exports is a positive sign for Pakistan’s economy, as the IT sector continues to contribute significantly to foreign exchange earnings.
Government initiatives to support startups, improve IT infrastructure, and facilitate international partnerships were also cited as factors driving growth. Experts say sustained investment in training and technology adoption will be crucial to maintain this upward trend.
The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) expressed optimism that IT exports could surpass $20 billion annually in the near future if current growth momentum continues.
