Passport Department to Launch Doorstep Delivery Service Across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has decided to launch a new Doorstep Delivery service for citizens across Pakistan. The initiative aims to make passport services faster, easier, and more accessible.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Director General of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Senior officials reviewed progress on several digital reforms and finalized the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the upcoming Doorstep Delivery program.

The new service will allow citizens to receive important passport-related documents at their homes. Officials believe the Doorstep Delivery system will reduce inconvenience and improve public access to government services.

During the meeting, participants also discussed developments related to the Immigration and Passports mobile application. Special attention was given to online application submission and tracking features. Authorities reviewed the appโ€™s progress and stressed the need for timely completion.

Officials directed relevant teams to speed up efforts aimed at promoting e-services and digital payment solutions. The department wants to shift more services online and reduce dependence on traditional manual processes.

Speaking during the meeting, DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that providing quick, simple, and transparent services remains the departmentโ€™s top priority. He added that modern technology will play a key role in improving public service delivery.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to bringing most immigration and passport services directly to citizens through the Doorstep Delivery model and other digital platforms. They emphasized that technology-driven solutions can make government services more efficient and user-friendly.

In a related development, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is also working on a modern digital payment system. For this purpose, officials are consulting with a private bank to introduce cashless payment options for passport and immigration fees.

A delegation from the bank recently met DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa to discuss the project. Under the proposed system, citizens will be able to pay fees through a mobile application. The bank has already started developing the required infrastructure.

Officials said digital payments will improve transparency and speed up service delivery. Both sides agreed on a final mechanism for the rollout of the new system.
