PESCO Ends Free Electricity Units for Employees, Announces Cash Allowances

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has ended free electricity units for its employees.

The company will now provide monthly cash allowances based on employeesโ€™ pay grades.

The decision was approved by the PESCO Board of Directors. It changes how electricity benefits are provided to company staff.

Under the new policy, employees will receive fixed monthly payments instead of free electricity units.

The move is part of a broader shift to monetize electricity benefits for employees. The new allowances will vary according to the employeeโ€™s grade.

New PESCO Allowances for Employees

The company has issued details of the monthly compensation rates.

Employees in Grade 17 will receive Rs 15,858 per month. The amount replaces 450 free electricity units.

Those in Grade 18 will receive Rs 21,996 monthly. This allowance replaces 600 free units.

For Grade 19, the monthly cash allowance has been set at Rs 37,954. It replaces the previous benefit of 880 free units.

Employees in Grade 20 will receive Rs 46,992 per month. The amount replaces 1,100 free electricity units.

The revised structure means employees will no longer receive the specified electricity units as a direct benefit.

Instead, they will receive a fixed cash amount each month according to their grade.

PESCO Monetizes Electricity Benefits

The decision formally converts the existing electricity facility into monetary compensation.

The PESCO Board approved the change as part of the companyโ€™s employee benefit structure.

The new system is expected to provide a defined monthly allowance to eligible employees.

However, implementation of the policy will remain subject to applicable rules and regulations.

The company said the monetization process will follow conditions issued by the Federal Power Division.

Employees will therefore receive the allowances under the relevant government directives.

The change marks a shift from providing electricity units to offering cash-based compensation.

The PESCO administration will apply the revised rates according to employee pay grades.

The policy details specify the number of free units previously provided for each grade. They also establish the corresponding monthly cash amounts.

The company has not indicated any change beyond the approved monetization framework.
