Petrol Shipments Arrive At Karachi, Easing Shortage Concerns

Concerns over a petrol shortage in Pakistan are easing as multiple shipments arrive at Karachi’s Port Qasim. Authorities said fuel supplies are being replenished steadily.

A gasoline-laden vessel, MT Nave Atropos, has already docked at the FOTCO Terminal carrying 50,000 metric tonnes of petrol. Port officials confirmed the arrival and said it would help stabilize local fuel availability.

Two more fuel shipments are expected shortly. The vessel MT Spross Two is scheduled to arrive at 8:30 pm today with 55,000 tonnes of petrol. Another tanker, MT Sea Clipper, is due on 11 March at noon, bringing 34,000 tonnes of petrol.

Authorities said a vessel from Fujairah is already anchored at Port Qasim, while another shipment from Oman is en route to Pakistan. These arrivals are expected to ensure consistent petrol supplies across the country.

The government has reassured citizens that national petrol stocks remain stable despite recent global energy market volatility. Officials emphasized that continuous monitoring is in place to prevent sudden shortages.

The Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices, chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, continues its daily review of developments. The committee assesses energy sector preparedness and evaluates national supply measures in light of regional tensions.

Port Qasim authorities said the shipments are part of a broader effort to maintain smooth distribution to cities and towns nationwide. The fuel deliveries are expected to meet immediate demand while additional cargoes arrive over the next few days.

Analysts say these shipments are critical for maintaining market stability. With global oil price fluctuations and regional uncertainties, timely fuel imports help prevent sudden price spikes and ensure uninterrupted supply to consumers.

The government and port officials urge citizens to remain calm, highlighting that ongoing shipments will sustain petrol availability in Pakistan. Fuel stations are expected to resume normal operations as deliveries continue to arrive at Port Qasim.
