A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight narrowly escapes disaster after a sudden cabin pressure drop, sources reported on Sunday. The incident occurred on PIA flight PK-860 from Jeddah to Lahore.
Shortly after takeoff, passengers experienced difficulty breathing as oxygen levels dropped. Oxygen masks deployed automatically, and the cabin crew quickly assisted travelers, ensuring everyone was safe and calm.
The captain acted swiftly, demonstrating professional skill and composure. He coordinated with air traffic control at Dammam Airport and secured clearance for an emergency landing. The aircraft was safely brought down, and all passengers were unharmed.
After the landing, passengers were transferred to the airport lounge. They later continued their journey to Lahore on an alternative flight. PIA officials confirmed that all necessary support and facilities were provided to those affected.
This is not the first time a PIA flight escapes a serious mid-air incident. Earlier this year, PIA flight PK-203 from Lahore to Dubai narrowly escaped an accident after a bird collided with the plane shortly after takeoff. The pilot made an emergency landing, safely bringing down the aircraft carrying 150 passengers.
Authorities emphasized the importance of safety protocols and praised the quick response of the flight crew. Passengers expressed relief and gratitude for the professional handling of the situation, which ensured that the incident ended without injury or damage.
These events highlight the challenges faced by airlines and the critical role of trained personnel in handling emergencies. Aviation experts note that prompt action and adherence to safety procedures are crucial when flights unexpectedly encounter problems.
