A PIA flight with passengers, including Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Shah, returned to Karachi after a technical fault emerged shortly after takeoff. The flight, PK-536, was traveling from Karachi to Sukkur when the issue occurred approximately 17 minutes after departure.
The pilot immediately informed air traffic control and decided to turn back for safety reasons. Passengers were promptly notified about the technical problem, and the flight was canceled. Minister Nasir Shah, along with Sukkur Mayor Arsalan Sheikh and other travelers, returned safely to Karachi following the incident.
PIA authorities confirmed that the airline prioritized passenger safety and took swift action to manage the situation. The technical fault prevented the flight from continuing to Sukkur as scheduled. Officials said all passengers were unharmed and assisted in returning to the airport smoothly.
This is not the first time a PIA flight with passengers has faced an in-flight emergency. In a recent incident, a PIA flight traveling from Dubai to Islamabad witnessed a tragic event when a passenger suffered a cardiac arrest mid-flight. According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials, the deceased, Malik Jahanzaib from Abbottabad, passed away despite immediate onboard assistance. The body was later handed over to his heirs.
The airline has assured that regular maintenance and safety protocols are strictly followed to prevent such emergencies. Passengers were advised to remain calm, and the crew handled the situation professionally, ensuring a safe return to Karachi.
Officials emphasized that air travel remains safe, and the PIA flight with minister and other passengers is a reminder of the importance of immediate response in technical emergencies. PIA has promised a thorough inspection of the aircraft before resuming future flights.
