Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has expressed his belief that X (formerly Twitter) is operational in Pakistan.

During an interview with Urdu News, the prime minister was questioned about the restoration of X’s services in the country. In response, he stated his opinion that X is not currently restricted in Pakistan.

However, the prime minister acknowledged the existence of any technical issues related to X, indicating that the upcoming government would address them upon assuming power.

It’s worth noting that X’s services became unavailable in Pakistan on February 17. Despite this, there has been no official comment from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) or any government official regarding the sudden restriction of one of the nation’s most widely used social media platforms.

According to internet monitor Netblocks, X has remained restricted in Pakistan since February 17, with occasional moments of availability.

Despite a recent directive from the Sindh High Court (SHC) instructing the PTA to fully restore X’s services nationwide, the platform remains inaccessible in Pakistan.

Furthermore, despite the ban, several ministers in the caretaker setup, including the IT Minister, and official government department accounts continue to post on X, possibly utilizing VPN services to bypass the restrictions.
