Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the fourth phase of the Youth Laptop Scheme 2025, reaffirming his governmentโs dedication to empowering Pakistanโs youth through education, technology, and skill development.
The ceremony, held in Islamabad, was attended by Chairman of the Prime Ministerโs Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, senior officials, students, and alumni from earlier phases of the Youth Laptop Scheme. A guard of honour was presented to the recipients by the Islamabad Capital Territory Police, followed by documentaries highlighting the success stories of students from the 2023 and 2024 phases.
Addressing the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz described the launch as a milestone in Pakistanโs journey toward youth empowerment. He said the Youth Laptop Scheme reflects his long-term vision, first initiated in 2010 as Chief Minister of Punjab, to promote education, technology, fine arts, and sports.
Despite challenges such as natural disasters and economic difficulties, the prime minister emphasized that โnot a single penny was cut from youth development funds,โ underscoring the governmentโs unwavering focus on education and innovation.
Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted Pakistanโs growing involvement in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing. He said these advancements represent a โbright technological futureโ for the nation and its youth.
โThis programme is not for personal recognition but for the young citizens who are the architects of our nationโs future,โ he said. The new slogan โ Youth of Pakistan: Making Pakistan Great โ reflects this vision of progress and merit.
Since 2011, more than 100,000 laptops have been distributed on merit under the scheme, with an investment of Rs40โ50 billion. Additionally, the government has allocated Rs500 billion for youth education, training, and empowerment โ a move the prime minister described as โan investment in Pakistanโs destiny.โ
