PM Shehbaz Discusses Regional Peace Efforts with Iran’s President

ISLAMABAD: PM Shehbaz held a detailed phone conversation with Iran’s President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday. The discussion focused on building trust and promoting dialogue amid rising Middle East tensions.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the call lasted over an hour. PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of ongoing Israeli attacks on Iranian infrastructure. He also briefed the Iranian president on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.

The prime minister highlighted engagement with the United States, Gulf nations, and other Islamic countries to create a peaceful environment for talks. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Iran during these challenging times.

PM Shehbaz offered condolences for the loss of over 1,900 lives and prayed for the recovery of the injured and displaced. He expressed hope that collective efforts could lead to a viable path for ending hostilities in the region.

Iran’s president appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic role and emphasized the importance of building trust to facilitate mediation. Both leaders discussed strategies for reducing tensions and promoting dialogue in the Middle East.

The upcoming meeting of foreign ministers from Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan in Islamabad on March 29–30 was also discussed. PM Shehbaz assured that Pakistan would play a constructive role in supporting regional peace efforts.
