ISLAMABAD โ Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has begun an official visit to Saudi Arabia as part of a three-nation tour. The visit comes at a time of rising tensions in the Middle East.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold important meetings with the leadership of Saudi Arabia. The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral ties. They will also cover regional peace, security, and economic cooperation.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by senior officials. This includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi. The delegation aims to deepen diplomatic and economic engagement with Saudi Arabia.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit to Saudi Arabia is part of a broader regional tour. The Prime Minister will also visit Qatar and Tรผrkiye from April 15 to April 18. The tour is focused on enhancing foreign relations and cooperation.
Shehbaz Sharif will also attend the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Tรผrkiye. He will participate in the Leadersโ Panel. There, he will present Pakistanโs position on key global issues.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Prime Minister is expected to meet several world leaders. These include Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other senior officials. The meetings aim to boost diplomatic coordination.
Saudi Arabia has remained a key strategic partner for Pakistan. Both countries share strong political and economic ties. The current visit to Saudi Arabia is expected to further strengthen this long-standing relationship.
In separate developments, financial cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has also expanded. Officials confirmed that Saudi Arabia has agreed to provide additional financial support to Pakistan. This includes a new $3 billion deposit arrangement.
The existing $5 billion Saudi deposit will also be extended for a longer period. This decision is expected to strengthen Pakistanโs foreign exchange reserves and improve financial stability.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the support comes at a critical time. He added that Saudi Arabiaโs assistance will help improve Pakistanโs external account position.
