Authorities in Lahore reported a major development after Police arrest fake female doctor involved in extorting money from citizens at the General Hospital. The woman, identified as Sonia Bibi, had been pretending to be a qualified doctor and collecting money from patients seeking medical help.
ASP Kashmala Farooq confirmed that an inquiry proved Sonia Bibi was not a licensed medical professional. She had been operating inside the hospital without any legal permission. According to officials, Police arrest fake female doctor after receiving complaints from people who noticed her suspicious activities.
Sonia Bibi belongs to Chak Mangla Mirpur Khas and had also been posing as a doctor in her hometown. During the investigation, she admitted that she had already taken thousands of rupees from unsuspecting residents in her local area. A formal case has now been registered, and police have begun further inquiries to determine whether others were involved.
This incident has raised concerns about security at public hospitals and the risks posed by imposters posing as medical staff. Officials have urged hospital administrations to tighten monitoring systems and ensure strict verification of all personnel working inside medical facilities.
The case is not the first of its kind. In 2023, the Nishtar Hospital Multan administration detained an individual pretending to be a doctor in the emergency ward. Security guards noticed a man dressed in a doctor’s coat acting suspiciously. When questioned, he introduced himself as Dr. Ehsan and even produced a stamp, which later turned out to be fake.
The guards immediately informed the Cantonment police, who reached the site, arrested the suspect, and registered a case. The incident highlighted the need for stronger measures to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering sensitive hospital areas.
With Police arrest fake female impersonator once again, authorities are calling for stricter background checks and improved security to protect patients from fraud and potential harm.
