Peopleโs Party MNA Shazia Marri on Wednesday criticized the government for huge losses suffered by the national airliner.
She said the losses were caused by irresponsible statements made by a minister during the previous PTI government. โThose responsible should be held accountable for these losses,โ Marri added.
Marri also highlighted issues in Karachi, calling it the countryโs largest metropolis, yet deprived of natural gas supply. She said roads were dug under the pretext of laying gas pipelines, causing inconvenience to citizens.
โThe constitution clearly states that gas-producing regions should get priority. Karachi households are facing worst gas loadshedding this winter,โ she explained.
The PPP leader linked the financial mismanagement to broader governance problems, stating that the national airlinerโs mismanagement reflects poor accountability in public institutions. She emphasized the need for reforms to prevent further financial damage.
Marri also raised concerns about rural areas, questioning how severe conditions could get if Karachi is already suffering from gas shortages and long power outages. She noted that several cities in Sindh face power cuts of up to 20 hours a day.
The lawmaker warned that such issues could worsen in the summer months if the government fails to address basic utilities and the performance of state-owned entities.
โThe national airliner is a key public asset, and its losses affect the economy and citizens alike,โ Marri stated, urging immediate government action.
She concluded that accountability and transparency are essential to safeguard public resources and prevent further decline in the services provided by the national airliner and other state institutions.
