Islamabad: On International Tolerance Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony and protection of minority rights in Pakistan. Both leaders highlighted the values of respect, understanding, and peaceful coexistence as essential for a unified society.
President Zardari stated that tolerance is deeply rooted in the teachings of Islam and underscored that Pakistanโs constitution guarantees freedom of religion and equality for all citizens. He also highlighted government initiatives to support minority communities, including scholarships, representation in various institutions, and community welfare programs.
Prime Minister Sharif added that promoting social harmony and eliminating religious and social friction remain top priorities for his government. He stressed that protecting the rights of minorities and ensuring their participation in national development are vital steps toward a cohesive society.
Both leaders urged citizens to uphold the principles of tolerance, mutual respect, and national unity. Their messages come amid ongoing efforts to strengthen social cohesion and ensure equal rights for all communities across the country.
