ISLAMABAD, February 11, 2026 โ President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated Iranโs Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian people on the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. He reaffirmed the historic ties between Pakistan and Iran and extended prayers for peace and prosperity.

The Islamic Revolution of 1978โ79 ended the monarchy of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and led to the formation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Large rallies are held each year on February 11, known as Bahman 22 in the Persian calendar, to commemorate the revolution. The anniversary marks the conclusion of the โTen-Day Dawnโ celebrations, which begin with the return of Ruhollah Khomeini on February 1, 1979.
Iranโs President Masoud Pezeshkian also addressed crowds at Azadi Square during the anniversary. He emphasized that the country would not yield to outside pressure and highlighted ongoing dialogue with neighboring nations to maintain regional peace. Pezeshkian defended Iranโs nuclear program as peaceful, stating the nation is ready for verification by international inspectors.
The anniversary comes amid heightened tension with the United States. US President Donald Trump has linked potential military action against Iran to nuclear negotiations, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for a tougher stance. International efforts, including talks involving Qatar, aim to de-escalate regional tensions.
