The government has launched the Prime Minister’s Bike Scheme 2026 under the PAVE program to promote eco-friendly and affordable transportation across Pakistan.

Speaking to ARY News, Hamad Ali Mansoor, CEO of the Engineering Development Board (EDB), shared key details about the Bike Scheme, including subsidies, targets, and eligibility criteria.

He stated that Rs100 billion has been allocated for the electric bike and rickshaw initiative over the next five years. For the current fiscal year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has earmarked Rs9 billion.

Under the Bike Scheme, 116,000 electric motorcycles will receive a subsidy of Rs80,000 each this year. In addition, electric rickshaws will get Rs400,000 per vehicle to make them more affordable.

Mansoor added that under the Prime Minister’s EV initiative, electric bikes cost Rs50,000 to Rs60,000 less than other brands available in the market. The government aims to distribute 76,000 motorcycles by June.
