PTA Warns Registered Users To Ensure SIMs Are Their Own Names

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has reminded telecom consumers to register all SIM cards in their own names. The authority stressed that using a SIM registered to another person violates existing telecom rules.

In an official statement, PTA urged people to use telecom services responsibly at all times. It warned that misuse of SIMs can lead to serious legal consequences. According to the regulator, Registered users are fully responsible for all activity linked to their SIMs.

PTA clarified that calls, messages, and data usage will be traced back to the registered individual. Any unlawful activity will place accountability on the SIM owner. Authorities emphasized that sharing or lending SIMs is not allowed under the law.

The regulator warned that failure to follow these rules could result in enforcement action. This may include SIM suspension or further legal steps in serious cases. PTA encouraged citizens to help maintain the safety and stability of Pakistanโ€™s telecom system.

PTA also repeated earlier warnings about free SIM offers from unauthorized sources. The authority said scammers are using deceptive tactics to steal biometric data. These scams often target women and senior citizens with false promises of free SIMs or financial assistance.

Officials revealed that criminals collect fingerprints and thumb impressions to activate illegal SIMs. These SIMs are later used in identity theft and financial fraud. PTA stressed that giving a SIM registered in your name to another person is a criminal offense.

The authority advised consumers to avoid sharing personal or biometric information. Only authorized franchise centers should be used for SIM-related services. Registered users are urged to verify all telecom offers before responding.

PTA concluded by urging responsible behavior from all telecom consumers. Registered users are expected to follow rules and protect their personal data. These measures are vital to ensure a secure and reliable telecom network nationwide.
