PTI Expresses Concern Over Imran Khan’s Eye Health, Demands Immediate Treatment

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has once again raised serious concerns about the health of its imprisoned founder, Imran Khan. The party says it has received credible information about a serious eye condition that may cause permanent vision loss if not treated on time.

In a statement shared on social media platform X on Tuesday, PTI urged authorities to allow unrestricted access to family members and close associates. The party also demanded that Imran Khan be given medical treatment at a hospital of his own choice.

According to the statement, reliable reports suggest that the former prime minister has been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion in his right eye. This condition occurs when a vein in the retina becomes blocked. PTI said medical specialists who examined him inside prison described the condition as severe. They reportedly warned that delayed or improper treatment could result in irreversible damage to eyesight.

PTI further alleged that despite clear medical advice, prison authorities want treatment to take place inside the jail. The party claimed that the specialist involved clearly stated that proper treatment requires an operation theatre and advanced medical facilities. These facilities, PTI said, are not available inside the prison.

The party described this approach as highly irresponsible. It said the situation puts both vision and overall health at serious risk. PTI also claimed that Imran Khan last met his personal doctor in October 2024. Since then, no further examinations have been allowed. This, the party said, is happening despite existing orders from the Islamabad High Court.

PTI termed the situation a violation of court directives and fundamental human rights. It also noted that a petition seeking regular medical check-ups has been pending since August 2025. The party accused authorities of deliberately delaying action on the matter.

In its statement, PTI demanded immediate permission for an unrestricted meeting with family and associates. The party said this would help reassure the public about his condition. It also called for his transfer to Shaukat Khanum Hospital or another reputable medical facility of his choice.

PTI appealed to the judiciary to view the issue as a matter of human life and health. It urged courts to prevent any negligence or delay in treatment. The party warned that any permanent damage to eyesight would be the responsibility of the government and Adiala Jail administration.

Separately, Shaukat Khanum Hospital also expressed concern over his health. The hospital requested that its medical team be allowed to assist in treatment. It said this would help address public concern and ensure proper medical care.
