Rs1.14bn Approved for Bureaucrats’ Vehicles in Punjab — Details

Punjab government has decided to purchase 108 new vehicles during the current fiscal year. The plan includes vehicles for ministers, senior Bureaucrats, and official inspection teams.

According to official sources, the estimated cost of the new vehicles is around Rs1.14 billion. The proposal has been submitted to the provincial cabinet for approval.

Officials said the transport wing prepared the recommendations after reviewing operational needs. The plan aims to support administrative duties performed by ministers and Bureaucrats across the province.

The proposal includes the purchase of 28 vehicles for the Punjab cabinet. The estimated cost for these vehicles is about Rs300 million.

The suggested fleet for cabinet members includes several different models. These include one Toyota Land Cruiser and two Haval 1.5 vehicles.

The list also includes five Toyota Corolla Grande Altis cars. In addition, ten Toyota Altis and ten Toyota Yaris vehicles are part of the proposal.

Officials said the vehicles will help ministers and Bureaucrats perform official duties more efficiently. Government representatives say transportation support is necessary for administrative operations.

The proposal also includes special security vehicles for ministers. Two bulletproof four-by-four vehicles have been suggested for security purposes.

The cost of these bulletproof vehicles is estimated at around Rs40 million. The government had earlier allowed such purchases due to security concerns.

Sources also confirmed that vehicles for VIP security are part of the procurement plan. Around 25 vehicles worth approximately Rs270 million have already received approval.

Another major portion of the proposal relates to the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team. The plan includes vehicles worth about Rs530 million for inspection and monitoring duties.

The recommended vehicles include 30 double-cabin pickup trucks. The list also includes 11 Toyota Yaris cars and three Toyota Altis vehicles.

Additional transport options such as Suzuki Cultus cars and motorcycles are also part of the proposed fleet. These vehicles will assist inspection teams during official visits.

Officials said the new fleet will help Bureaucrats and inspection teams carry out field operations more effectively. It will also support administrative monitoring in different districts.

The procurement process will begin once the cabinet gives final approval. Authorities say the purchase is necessary for operational and security requirements.
