LAHORE – The Punjab Bar Council has suspended the license of advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq, who represents retired General Faiz Hameed, for violating professional conduct. The decision follows his controversial appearance at Karachi City Court.
The council stated that Mian Ali Ashfaq appeared in court during an ongoing judicial strike, which was strictly prohibited. His actions, captured in a viral social media video, were deemed against professional rules. The presence of private guards alongside him further violated established regulations.
The Executive Committee of the Punjab Bar Council referred Mian Ali Ashfaq’s case to the Disciplinary Committee. The committee will now review the matter for permanent cancellation of his license. This step marks a significant move to enforce accountability within the legal profession.
