Punjab Boards Postpone Matric and Intermediate Exams After Eid 2026

LAHORE โ€“ Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that annual examinations for matric and intermediate classes will be held after Ramadan and Eidul Fitr 2026.

Earlier, the first annual exams across all nine Punjab boards were scheduled for March 3, 2025. The revised schedule aims to provide students with additional preparation time. The official dates will be shared by the boards soon.

The decision has been welcomed by teachersโ€™ unions, who said the extra time would help students perform better in exams. The move also aims to ensure a fair and uniform assessment across schools under the board system.

Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment confirmed that annual examinations for Class 5 and Class 8 will now also follow the Punjab boards system. Registration for these exams will begin in November 2025.

Class 5 exams are scheduled to start on February 9, 2026, while Class 8 exams will begin on February 16, 2026. Students can complete their admission and registration process for Class 5 from November 3 to November 15, 2025.

The results for both grades are expected to be announced on March 31, 2026. Education authorities highlighted that conducting exams under the Punjab boards system will help standardize evaluation and ensure uniformity in assessing student performance across the province.

Authorities have urged students and parents to stay updated through official channels and complete registration within the given timeframe to avoid delays in the examination process.
