The Punjab government has announced revised Daily Wage rates for workers involved in government development projects and construction work. The new rates will remain effective from July to December 2026 and will be used for public-sector development schemes across the province.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Finance Department, the updated Daily Wage rates apply to workers employed on government-funded construction and infrastructure projects. Officials said the revised rates will also be used when preparing cost estimates for upcoming development work.
Under the new notification, the Daily Wage for unskilled workers has been fixed at Rs. 1,538 per day. This rate will apply to laborers performing basic construction and manual work on government projects.
The government has also increased wages for skilled workers. Masons, electricians, plumbers, welders, and other skilled professionals will now receive Rs. 2,000 per day for their services.
Semi-skilled workers have also been included in the revised wage structure. Gardeners, chainmen, and other workers in similar categories will receive Rs. 1,560 per day under the new schedule.
In addition to daily wage revisions, the Punjab government has announced a new minimum monthly wage for employees working on a monthly salary basis. The minimum monthly wage has been set at Rs. 40,000.
Officials said the updated wage rates are intended for use in government construction projects and development schemes. Every department preparing project estimates will use the new rates while calculating labor costs.
The revised rates are expected to affect the overall cost of public-sector development projects. As labor expenses increase, the estimated budgets for government contracts and construction schemes may also rise.
The Punjab Finance Department has formally issued the notification covering the revised wage schedule. The notification confirms that the updated rates will remain applicable for the next six months, from July through December 2026.
Government departments have been directed to follow the revised labor rates when preparing new project estimates. This will help ensure that labor costs are calculated according to the latest approved standards.
The revised Daily Wage schedule covers a wide range of workers involved in infrastructure development. These include laborers, technical workers, skilled tradespeople, and semi-skilled staff working on government-funded projects.
Officials believe the updated wage structure will provide a standardized payment system for workers engaged in public-sector development. It will also ensure consistency in the preparation of project budgets across different government departments.
The latest notification does not change the scope of existing development projects. However, departments may revise project estimates to reflect the updated labor costs before approving new contracts.
