The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has announced a major plan to replace fuel-based transport with cleaner alternatives. The project focuses on introducing modern Electric Buses across the province.

The authority has officially invited applications from interested companies and firms. The pre-qualification process for the project is set to begin on July 16. This step will help identify qualified suppliers for the rollout of Electric Buses.
According to eligibility requirements, companies must have prior experience in supplying 12-meter fully electric vehicles. They must also provide proof of expertise in spare parts supply, maintenance, and repair services for Electric Buses.
Selected companies will be responsible for more than just vehicle supply. They will also install charging stations across designated routes. In addition, they will handle technical support and operational training for drivers.
Officials said that driver training will be an important part of the project. It will ensure safe and efficient operation of Electric Buses once they are launched in the transport system.
The initiative is being implemented by the Punjab Mass Transit Authority as part of a broader environmental strategy. It aims to create a cleaner, safer, and more modern public transport network in the province.
