LAHORE โ Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has dismissed reports claiming a ban on food preparations for guests at funerals. She called the circulating news โfakeโ and urged citizens not to believe such rumors.
In a statement posted on the social media platform โX,โ Bukhari clarified that no government guidelines or restrictions exist regarding food preparations at funeral gatherings. She explained that the misleading posts were intentionally created to spread misinformation.
The minister emphasized that the Punjab government remains committed to providing accurate and truthful information. She asked the public to rely on official announcements rather than unverified or sensationalized news.
Bukhari also reassured citizens that they are free to continue customary practices, including offering food preparations to guests during funerals, without fear of any government restrictions.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to implement strict rules regarding loudspeakers at weddings and other public events. She highlighted that officials must enforce the โone dishโ policy at weddings to prevent waste and ensure compliance with provincial regulations.
The Chief Minister also stressed legal action against illegal use of loudspeakers during events such as Qawwali nights, weddings, and celebrations at marriage halls or farmhouses. Authorities are instructed to monitor noise levels and regulate the operating hours of event venues.
Officials who fail to implement these rules may face penalties, including being barred from attending wedding ceremonies, ensuring accountability. The measures aim to maintain public order while allowing traditional practices, including food preparations for guests, to continue without interruption.
Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through official government channels. The Punjab government continues to prioritize transparency, emphasizing that customs such as serving food to guests remain respected.
The clarification by Azma Bukhari comes amid growing concern over misinformation on social media. Authorities have urged the public to verify any claims regarding funeral or wedding regulations before sharing them online.
