Punjab Govt Distributes 20,000 Green Tractors to Boost Agriculture

The government of Punjab has taken a major step to improve the agriculture sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. A large number of modern machines are being provided to farmers to support better farming practices.

As part of this initiative, more than 20,000 green tractors have already been distributed across Punjab. Officials have confirmed that an additional 10,000 tractors will also be delivered in the coming phase. This move aims to make farming more efficient and reduce reliance on outdated methods.

The program is being implemented under the CM High-Tech Mechanization Financing Program. Through this scheme, farmers can access modern agricultural equipment on easy financing terms. This includes wheat and rice combine harvesters, high-power tractors, and other advanced machinery.

To support farmers financially, the government has allocated loans worth 30 billion PKR. These loans are available to both farmers and service providers. The goal is to ensure that modern tools are within reach for a wider group of people involved in agriculture.

In addition to tractors, 5,000 rice super seeders have already been distributed. These machines cost around 4 billion PKR. The use of these seeders is expected to reduce crop residue burning. This step will help control smog, which remains a serious issue in Punjab.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that mechanization is key to transforming agriculture. She noted that modern machinery helps farmers save time and reduce production costs. It also increases crop yields per acre, which can improve overall income.

She encouraged farmers to adopt new technologies and move away from traditional farming methods. According to her, this shift is necessary for long-term sustainability and better productivity.
