Punjab Govt Plans Better Cleanliness System for Govt Hospitals Across Province

The Punjab government has announced plans to introduce a permanent cleanliness system in Govt Hospitals across the province. The move aims to improve sanitation standards and provide better healthcare facilities for patients.

Punjab Minister for Local Government and Community Development Zeeshan Rafiq shared the update while chairing a meeting at the Suthra Punjab Authority office on Saturday.

During the meeting, officials reviewed proposals for a detailed plan to improve cleanliness in Govt Hospitals. The discussion focused on hospital wards, corridors, lawns, and washrooms.

The minister said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had directed authorities to ensure regular cleaning in all public hospitals. He added that maintaining hygiene in Govt Hospitals was important for patient safety and better treatment standards.

According to Zeeshan Rafiq, extra resources will be provided to maintain high cleanliness standards. He instructed the Suthra Punjab Authority to prepare a full implementation plan for the project.

Officials said the new system would help create a long-term and effective cleaning mechanism in Govt Hospitals. This step is expected to improve the overall environment in public healthcare centers.

The meeting also reviewed progress on Punjabโ€™s Waste-to-Value program. Under this project, waste is being converted into useful products like biogas and organic fertilizer.

Authorities informed the minister that pilot projects are already underway in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Sheikhupura. Non-landfill waste disposal work is also in progress in Dera Ghazi Khan and Chakwal.

The minister said university case studies linked to the Suthra Punjab Authority are in the final stages. He said future waste management projects will follow expert recommendations.

He added that the government wants to turn waste into valuable resources. These include biogas, organic fertilizer, and energy generation. An experimental biogas unit using animal waste is already producing results in Lahore.

The meeting also reviewed the performance of Suthra Punjab agencies. Zeeshan Rafiq said district-level agencies have improved monitoring and strengthened local operations.
