The Punjab government has introduced a new law, the Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025 (POIP), aimed at curbing illegal property occupation. The legislation seeks to protect property owners and ensure swift justice against unlawful possession.
Under the new law, strict penalties are prescribed for false applications, and immediate tribunals will handle both civil and criminal proceedings. Property owners can also submit a protection request directly to the Deputy Commissioner.
The government has set up an online portal to register complaints regarding illegal property occupation. Citizens can access the portal at http://poip.punjab-zameen.gov.pk. The platform offers both English and Urdu versions, making it accessible to a wider audience.
To register a complaint, users must first create an account on the POIP portal. After entering their credentials, an OTP is sent to the registered mobile number. Entering the OTP completes the account registration. Once registered, citizens can submit detailed complaints about illegal property occupation.
Officials emphasized that the portal is designed to provide swift relief to rightful property owners. By enabling prompt legal and administrative action, the government aims to reduce instances of land grabbing and unlawful possession.
The POIP ordinance also includes measures to prevent abuse of the system. Applicants submitting false complaints face strict penalties, ensuring the process remains fair and transparent.
Authorities highlighted that tackling illegal property occupation is a top priority. The law and portal aim to empower citizens to protect their property rights while deterring land mafias and unlawful encroachments.
By combining legal action with administrative support, the Punjab government hopes to provide faster resolution for property disputes. The initiative reflects the governmentโs commitment to safeguarding ownership rights and promoting justice in the province.
Citizens are encouraged to follow the registration guidelines carefully to ensure their complaints are processed efficiently. The POIP ordinance marks a significant step in protecting legitimate property owners from illegal occupation and related criminal activities.
