Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered authorities to remove ramps that illegally obstruct public roads. The directive targets Illegal House Ramps built outside residential properties and extending into public spaces.
The chief minister also ordered officials to install roadside drain covers made from recycled plastic.
The instructions came during a meeting reviewing development projects in Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions.
Illegal House Ramps to Be Removed
Maryam Nawaz directed local authorities to take action against ramps that create obstacles on roads.
The removal of Illegal House Ramps is expected to improve road access and reduce inconvenience for motorists and pedestrians.
She also issued instructions regarding roadside development and beautification. City names will be displayed on landscaped plots located at major entry points.
Officials also decided that concrete flowerpots would not be placed along roads.
Electronic traffic signals will be installed on congested roads in Bhakkar and other cities.
Development Projects Approved for Sargodha
Officials briefed the chief minister about several projects planned under the own-source revenue model.
Eight development projects will be undertaken in Sargodha district.Six projects each have also been planned for Khushab and Bhakkar.
Several important road projects were approved for Sargodha city.
These include work on Dairy Road, Azad Road and Urdu Bazaar Road. Projects at Pilot Chowk and the Khayyam Chowk overhead bridge were also approved.
Khushab and Bhakkar will each receive six road construction and rehabilitation projects.
Sewerage and Drainage Projects Get Approval
Six own-source revenue projects were approved for Rajanpur.
However, Maryam Nawaz asked officials to prepare more development schemes for Rajanpur and surrounding tehsils.
The government also approved sewerage and drainage projects for several rural areas.
These areas include Rojhan, Kot Mithan, Jampur and Dajal. The chief minister directed authorities to complete these schemes on a priority basis.
DG Khan Development Projects Reviewed
In another meeting, Maryam Nawaz asked Punjab Assembly members from Dera Ghazi Khan to monitor development projects.
Law and order, political developments and public issues were also discussed. According to an official statement, lawmakers reported a decline in crime across Dera Ghazi Khan.
They also highlighted improvements in the law-and-order situation within the katcha area.
Road, drainage, water supply and beautification projects are underway across Dera Ghazi Khan and other cities.
Punjab Plans Technology and Healthcare Initiatives
Maryam Nawaz also discussed her recent visit to China during the meeting. She said the provincial government aims to develop Punjab into an artificial intelligence hub.
The chief minister also discussed plans to introduce advanced Chinese healthcare methods in Punjab. These methods would support the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases.
She also welcomed the use of electric buses by residents in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Meanwhile, the crackdown on Illegal House Ramps forms part of wider efforts to improve urban infrastructure and public spaces.
