Punjab PPRA, PITB and BOP Hold Seminar on New e-Procurement System Ahead of July 1 Rollout

Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority, Punjab Information Technology Board, and The Bank of Punjab have jointly held an awareness Seminar in Lahore. The session was arranged ahead of Punjab’s new digitized procurement system, which is set to launch on July 1, 2026.

The Seminar aimed to prepare government departments, contractors, and other stakeholders for the upcoming shift to electronic procurement. Officials briefed participants on how the new system will work and how it will change procurement procedures across the province.

During the session, the Managing Director of Punjab PPRA delivered the keynote address. He explained the broader purpose of the new system and highlighted its role in improving transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement.

Representatives from PITB also gave a detailed presentation on the e-procurement portal. They explained how users will access the platform, submit bids, and complete procurement-related tasks through digital tools.

The Bank of Punjab briefed participants about the financial side of the system. As the financial partner, BOP will support secure and real-time transactions through the platform.

Officials said the system has been designed to reduce paperwork and limit the chances of fraud. It will allow digital bid securities through single-touch online transfers. The system will also support SWIFT-based authenticated bank guarantees.

Another important feature is the automated refund process. This will help unsuccessful bidders receive financial refunds quickly and smoothly.

The partners also announced the launch of a Digital Procurement Facilitation Center inside The Bank of Punjab. The center will include experts from PPRA, PITB, and BOP.

The facilitation center will provide technical and transactional support to procuring agencies and contractors. Officials said this support will help users during the transition to the new digital system.

The Seminar also focused on building confidence among stakeholders before the July 1 rollout. Participants were informed about security features, digital processes, and support services available under the new framework.
