The Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority has released the date sheet for mid-term school-based assessment (SBA) tests, 2025-26. The tests will cover grades 1 to 8. The first SBA test is scheduled for December 12, 2025.
Alongside the date sheet, the Punjab Education Department has revised school timings starting December 8, 2025. According to the notification, morning shift schools will operate from 9:30 am to 11:30 am for two hours. Afternoon shift schools will run from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, while on Fridays, timings will be 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
The revised school timings aim to standardize schedules across government and private schools and ensure students have a consistent learning routine.
In addition, the Punjab government has announced the winter vacation schedule for 2025. Schools will close from December 23, 2025, to January 12, 2026. All educational institutions, public and private, are required to follow this uniform timeline. Students will return to schools on January 13, 2026.
Meanwhile, Balochistan has declared an extended winter break of two and a half months for schools in colder regions. This closure will begin on December 16, 2025, and schools are scheduled to reopen on March 1, 2026. The extended vacation is intended to protect students from harsh winter conditions.
In Chaman, Balochistan, annual examinations for junior classes began on November 16 and will continue until November 24. Class 8 examinations, conducted under the Balochistan Board, will start on November 24.
The Punjab Education Department emphasized that the revised school timings and uniform holiday schedule are designed to maintain consistency and support students’ academic progress. The SBA tests and winter vacation plans ensure schools manage both academic and seasonal priorities efficiently.
