High Alert in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan After Arrest of 12 RAW-Linked Terrorists

LAHORE โ€“ Punjab police have been placed on high alert following recent arrests of suspected terrorists allegedly linked to Indiaโ€™s RAW agency.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar ordered immediate sweep and combing operations in major cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. He directed all Senior District Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to join the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other sensitive agencies in these operations.

Dr Anwar emphasised that security at schools and universities would be tightened further. CCTV cameras have been installed at all entry and exit points, additional security guards deployed, and emergency evacuation arrangements ensured. Profiling and verification of individuals entering the province has also been ordered.

The directive comes a day after the Punjab CTD said it had arrested 12 suspected terrorists in intelligence-based operations across Lahore, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur. These individuals were allegedly working for Indiaโ€™s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), according to security officials.

Recovered materials included weapons, explosives, photos, videos, and recordings of sensitive locations, including a religious seminary. Seven improvised explosive devices, two detonators, and 102 feet of safety fuse wire were among the items seized.

Authorities said the terrorists were planning attacks on places of worship and other key sites, intending to incite fear and religious hatred. The arrests followed investigations into a Facebook account reportedly operated from India to coordinate terrorist activities in Punjab.

Following these developments, Punjab police have been put on high alert to prevent any further incidents. Officials stress that security agencies are working together to safeguard citizens and maintain law and order.

IGP Dr Anwar urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. Security officials said that all operations will continue until the threat of terrorism in the province is fully neutralized, keeping the region on high alert.
