Punjab Reports 12 New Dengue Cases in 24 Hours

The Punjab health department reported a total of 12 new dengue cases in the province over the past 24 hours. The latest figures highlight the continued spread of the disease in multiple cities.

According to the department, since the beginning of the year, Punjab has recorded 4,244 dengue cases. The recent daily update shows one case each in Rawalpindi and Lahore, two cases in Faisalabad, and one case each in Rahim Yar Khan, Sheikhupura, Bahawalpur, and Okara. Additionally, one case was reported from both Sialkot and Muzaffargarh.

Health authorities have urged residents to take preventive measures, including removing stagnant water, using mosquito repellents, and keeping their surroundings clean. These steps are crucial to control the spread of dengue fever, which can escalate quickly if neglected.

The department emphasized that timely reporting and treatment are essential to reduce fatalities and complications associated with the disease. Hospitals have been advised to remain alert and prepared for potential increases in patient numbers.

Officials also warned that urban centers with dense populations, such as Lahore and Faisalabad, are particularly vulnerable to outbreaks. Citizens are encouraged to visit health facilities immediately if they experience symptoms like high fever, severe headache, joint pain, or rashes.

The Punjab government continues to monitor dengue cases closely and has launched awareness campaigns to educate the public about preventive practices. Regular fumigation drives are being conducted in high-risk areas to minimize mosquito breeding.

With the peak dengue season approaching, authorities stress that public cooperation is vital to prevent further spread. The health department assured that all necessary steps are being taken to control the situation and protect residents from this mosquito-borne illness.
