Punjab Announces Deadline for Phase 1 of Beautification Plan

LAHORE – Punjab Announce a major update regarding its province-wide beautification plan, as Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif set a firm deadline for completing the first phase between February and May 2026. The decision came during a detailed meeting where officials presented progress reports from every district, tehsil, and city.

Punjab Announce that the plan includes 132 beautification schemes across 39 districts, with an estimated cost of PKR 16.9 billion. Out of these projects, 97 work orders have already been issued, while 88 schemes have begun on-ground work.

Major urban centers will see significant upgrades. Lahore has 18 projects, Rawalpindi 17, Faisalabad 13, Multan 8, Sahiwal 24, Bahawalpur 16, Gujranwala 12, and Sargodha 6. These improvements aim to restore old structures and enhance public spaces to create cleaner and more attractive surroundings.

Punjab Announce that the plan will include the restoration of famous city gates, installation of fiberglass and tensile structures, and the addition of water features such as fountains and artificial waterfalls. Green belts will be redesigned, and pavements will receive new colorful tiles in place of old grey blocks. Commercial markets will also be upgraded to improve their overall appearance.

A monitoring dashboard will be launched to review weekly progress. Assistant Commissioners will be responsible for ensuring smooth execution, and strict action will be taken against open manholes, broken roads, garbage piles, and damaged green belts.

Several key targets have been finalized. Rahim Yar Khan must complete six projects by March 31. Bahawalpur will restore Baba Farid Gate and Al-Sadiq Mosque, Faisalabad will upgrade its 121-year-old Clock Tower, and markets in Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Rawalpindi will receive aesthetic improvements by May 31.
