Weather Update: Rain and Snow Forecast Across Punjab Until Jan 23

LAHORE โ€” Residents of Lahore woke up to clear skies as fog and smog finally lifted, bringing sunshine and pleasant weather. Authorities, however, have issued a weather update warning of rain and snowfall expected across Punjab in the coming days.

According to the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), rain is likely in most districts from today through January 23. The advisory covers Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, and Faisalabad divisions, while Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur are also expected to see rainfall and cloudy conditions.

The weather update also highlights heavy snowfall and rain in Murree, Galiyat, and other mountainous areas. Local authorities have cautioned that conditions could become severe, affecting tourists and residents alike. Road blockages and emergencies are possible, prompting district administrations to remain on high alert.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia instructed all departments to complete preparations in advance. He emphasized that emergency control room staff must remain on alert 24 hours a day. Rescue 1122 teams have been directed to stay ready for prompt response to any emergency situation.

To support visitors in hilly areas, PDMA has established facilitation centers across Murree. These centers will provide guidance and emergency support during adverse weather conditions. The PDMA DG urged citizens to follow all precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain or snow.

Officials have also advised the public to remain vigilant as weather conditions may change rapidly. In case of emergencies, citizens are instructed to contact PDMA Punjabโ€™s helpline at 1129.
