Heavy Monsoon Rain Pounded Lahore As PDMA Issued a Fresh Alert

Heavy Monsoon Rain, accompanied by winds and lightning, struck Lahore and several parts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, and other regions.

The rainfall brought relief from hot and humid weather conditions for residents.

Areas such as Lakshmi Chowk, Gawalmandi, Qartaba Chowk, Davis Road, Islampura, Bund Road, Anarkali, Shalamar Garden, Model Town, Gulberg, Garden Town, among others, experienced significant downpours.

Some parts of Lahore faced waterlogging issues, with more than 100 feeders experiencing power outages.

In response to the monsoon season, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has issued alerts and emergency directives due to the heavy rains affecting various cities, particularly Lahore.

Provincial control rooms and district emergency operation centers are on high alert, with continuous monitoring of the rain situation by the PDMA’s control room. The Director General of PDMA has instructed Rescue 1122 and other rescue agencies to keep machinery and personnel ready to swiftly drain water from low-lying areas.
