LAHORE – Following a significant surge in petroleum costs, Pakistan Railways has declared a ten percent fare hike for all trains. An official notification indicates that the prices of all passenger train and shuttle train coaches will be raised. This adjustment will take effect from August 17.
The fare for the Karachi to Shikarpur route has been elevated by Rs200 to Rs1,600, while the Mehr train ticket price from Karachi will now be Rs1,400, reflecting a Rs100 increase.

In a late-night decision, Pakistan’s interim government raised petroleum product prices by up to Rs20 per liter, responding to a rise in global oil rates. Petrol saw an increase of Rs17.50 per liter, while high-speed diesel (HSD) rose by Rs20 per liter.
The Finance Division explained, “Petroleum prices in the international market have risen over the past two weeks. Consequently, consumer prices in Pakistan are being adjusted,” in a statement released on Tuesday.
