PIA Air-Hostess Was Apprehended At Lahore Airport For Smuggling Currency

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Air-Hostess was apprehended at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport while attempting to smuggle foreign currency. The Customs officials caught her concealing 140,000 Saudi riyal, equivalent to approximately $37,000, in her socks.

The air-hostess was intercepted during routine security checks and was subsequently removed from a flight destined for Jeddah. The currency was discovered hidden on her person, leading to her immediate detainment by the authorities.

DC Customs Raja Bilal confirmed that the PIA Air-Hostess was offloaded from the flight after the smuggled currency was found. The total value of the smuggled money was identified during the standard inspection process.

Following the discovery, Customs officials took swift action, referring the case to an investigating officer. This incident highlights the ongoing vigilance and enforcement efforts by customs authorities to combat illegal currency smuggling at the airport.

The registration of the case emphasizes the commitment to preventing such unlawful activities and maintaining stringent controls on currency movement.
