Rs2,200 Fuel Subsidy Announced for Motorcyclists in KP — Who Can Benefit

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a Fuel Subsidy for motorcyclists across the province. The move aims to provide financial relief to citizens affected by rising petroleum prices.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi made the announcement during a press conference. He was joined by Special Assistant for Information Shafi Jan and Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam.

Speaking to reporters, the chief minister criticized the recent increase in fuel prices. He said the rise has created financial pressure on ordinary citizens.

To address the issue, the provincial government decided to introduce a Fuel Subsidy specifically for motorcycle users. Officials believe this step will help reduce transportation costs for thousands of daily commuters.

According to the chief minister, about 1.4 to 1.6 million motorcycles are currently registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Each registered motorcycle owner will receive Rs2,200 under the Fuel Subsidy program.

The government hopes the initiative will provide immediate relief to people who rely on motorcycles for work, education, and daily travel.

Officials said motorcycles are one of the most common forms of transportation in the province. Many families depend on them for affordable mobility.

The chief minister also urged the federal government to reconsider the recent fuel price increase. He suggested that provinces should be consulted before making such decisions.

He said governments should reduce their own expenditures instead of increasing financial pressure on citizens.

The provincial leadership also announced several cost-cutting measures. These steps include banning the purchase of new government vehicles and limiting international travel by officials.

According to the chief minister, the government is taking these measures to control spending and focus resources on public relief.

He also confirmed that fares for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service will not be increased. The provincial government will bear the additional operational costs instead of passing them on to passengers.

Officials said the Fuel Subsidy initiative reflects the government’s effort to support citizens during a time of rising fuel prices.
