The British Council and Scottish Government have opened applications for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarship Scheme 2026-27.

The Scholarship aims to improve access to higher education for women across Pakistan. It targets young women and girls from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

The programme was first launched in 2013. Since then, it has supported more than 25,000 students across Pakistan.

The initiative seeks to make quality education more affordable. It also aims to help young women achieve their academic and career goals.

Scholarship Opportunities for Pakistani Women

The Scholarship is available for female students pursuing bachelor’s and master’s programmes. Applicants must study at HEC-recognised universities in Pakistan.

The programme supports subjects considered important for Pakistan’s future development. These include Education, Agriculture and Food Security, Sustainable Energy, and Health Sciences.

Other eligible fields include Climate Change and STEM Engineering. STEM subjects are available at both bachelor’s and master’s levels.

For undergraduate students, the Scholarship supports four-year bachelor’s degrees. Postgraduate applicants can receive support for two-year Master’s or MPhil programmes.

What the Scholarship Covers

Selected students can receive financial support for several education-related expenses.

The Scholarship covers tuition fees for eligible bachelor’s and master’s programmes. It can also cover university hostel costs where applicable.

Students living in university hostels can receive travel support. This covers travel between their home and university twice each year.

Master’s students can also receive research funding. The funds can help them access laboratories, equipment, and other research tools.

The programme is designed to reduce financial barriers for talented female students. It can help students continue their education without major financial pressure.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be Pakistani nationals and currently live in Pakistan. They must also have admission to an eligible degree programme.

The university must be recognised by the Higher Education Commission. Applicants must hold a confirmed admission offer before applying.

The programme particularly welcomes applications from minorities and persons with disabilities. Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply before the closing date.
