Shahrah-e-Bhutto to Open Before Eid ul Adha, Says CM Murad

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced that Shahrah-e-Bhutto will be opened for traffic before Eid ul Adha. He described the development as an “Eid gift” for the people of Karachi. The announcement came after his visit to ongoing infrastructure projects across the city.

According to the chief minister, Shahrah-e-Bhutto will help reduce traffic congestion in Karachi. The road is expected to improve connectivity between the M-9 and N-5 highways. He said that heavy traffic will shift outside the city, providing relief to daily commuters.

Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the project is important for the city’s economy. He said the road will act as a key route for transportation and logistics. The improved flow of traffic is likely to support business activity and reduce travel time.

During his visit, the chief minister also reviewed progress on the Azeempura flyover. The flyover is part of the broader Shahrah-e-Bhutto project. It is being built near the Shah Faisal Interchange to create a signal-free corridor. This route will connect traffic to Jinnah Terminal and nearby areas.

He directed Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab to complete the flyover within 90 days. Officials have been instructed to speed up construction work without compromising quality. The goal is to ensure timely completion of all related projects.

The chief minister also addressed the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Red Line project. He ordered authorities to complete mixed-traffic lanes along the corridor within two months. He stated that both the Red Line and Shahrah-e-Bhutto are critical for Karachi’s transport system.

Separately, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon spoke about delays in the BRT Red Line project. He said that the delays were due to complex urban challenges rather than negligence. He added that progress has improved after assigning work to the Frontier Works Organisation.

Memon acknowledged that ongoing construction has caused inconvenience to residents. However, he noted that large-scale projects in cities require careful planning. Utility lines such as gas, electricity, and water cannot be disrupted suddenly.

Authorities are working to reopen mixed traffic lanes by the end of July. This step is expected to ease congestion in affected areas.
