Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the death of Laiba Ejaz, a 22-year-old student of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). He has directed authorities to take immediate action against those allegedly involved in a financial fraud case linked to her.
The prime minister expressed deep regret over the incident. He instructed the Islamabad Inspector General of Police and the Chief Commissioner to ensure the prompt arrest of the accused. He also directed authorities to take strict legal action against anyone found responsible.
Laiba’s body was recovered from a green belt in the G-10 area of Islamabad. The location falls within the jurisdiction of Ramna Police Station.
According to police, the initial circumstances indicated a possible suicide. However, investigators have not yet announced a final conclusion regarding the cause of her death.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to establish the facts surrounding the incident. The circumstances of her death and the allegations raised by her family remain under investigation.
Laiba’s family has alleged that an education consultant took millions of rupees after promising to arrange her admission to a university in the United States.
According to the family, the consultant later provided documents that allegedly turned out to be fake. Different reports have estimated the disputed amount at between Rs. 5 million and Rs. 7 million.
However, the exact amount and the consultant’s alleged role have not been independently established. Investigators are examining the claims to determine what happened.
Family members said Laiba had completed her studies at the International Islamic University Islamabad with strong academic results. She reportedly wanted to continue her education abroad and had hoped to secure admission to a US university.
Her family also alleged that arranging the money required significant financial sacrifices. According to their claims, they raised funds through the sale of property and other financial arrangements.
The allegations have drawn attention to the risks students and families may face when dealing with education consultants. However, the specific claims in Laiba’s case remain subject to investigation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed Islamabad authorities to arrest the accused without unnecessary delay. He has also called for strict punishment under the law if the allegations are proven.
The case involves two important questions: the alleged financial fraud and the circumstances surrounding Laiba’s death. Investigators must establish the facts before drawing conclusions about any possible connection between them.
The investigation into the alleged fraud, the disputed financial amount and the circumstances of Laiba’s death is ongoing. Further official findings are expected to clarify the case.
