Sindh’s interim government has made an important announcement, declaring a holiday for all public and private schools and colleges on the 7th of September. This day marks the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), commemorated 40 days after Ashura, to honor the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions during the Battle of Karbala in 61 AH.

The decision to close educational institutions on this significant day was confirmed by the Sindh Education Department, following a resolution passed by its steering committee. On Chehlum, people across the country participate in mourning processions to pay their respects to the martyrs of Karbala.
In related news, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has officially declared a holiday in Lahore on the 7th of September (Thursday) to commemorate the annual Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh Syed Ali Hajveri. This three-day Urs ceremony, commencing on Tuesday, is a significant event for the region.
During his visit to Data Darbar, the Chief Minister announced the preparations for the Urs ceremony, which includes the setup of a community kitchen, also known as a langar khana, to provide meals for a large number of attendees. Chief Minister Naqvi emphasized, “It is our duty to ensure that everyone who attends the event has access to food.”
