The Sindh government has officially lifted business Timings restrictions that were introduced last month under its austerity campaign. The latest decision allows markets and commercial centers across the province to return to normal operating schedules.
According to a new notification, all restrictions on business Timings for markets, shops, shopping malls, hotels, and restaurants in Karachi and other parts of Sindh have now been removed.
The earlier restrictions were part of the provincial government’s austerity measures. These steps were introduced to reduce energy use and control public expenses. Under that policy, businesses were required to close earlier than usual.
Officials said the previous notification has now expired. As a result, there are no longer any limits on commercial operating hours. Businesses can now continue activities according to their usual Timings.
This decision is expected to bring relief to traders and business owners. Many had raised concerns over reduced customer activity due to early closures. Shopkeepers had argued that restricted hours affected daily sales and reduced market footfall.
With the latest update, all shopping centers, retail outlets, and food businesses can operate under routine schedules. The move is likely to support commercial activity across Sindh, especially in larger urban areas.

The development follows a similar step by the Government of Punjab. Earlier, Punjab had also eased business closure restrictions until June 1.
Under Punjab’s revised policy, markets, malls, restaurants, hotels, and food outlets were allowed to remain open for longer hours. That decision was also taken to provide relief to the business community.
The removal of restrictions in Sindh now brings business policies in line with other provinces. It also reflects efforts to balance economic activity with earlier cost-saving measures.
